The other day, one of my student’s Moms did a video of her daughter Payton playing “Moonlight Mist”. Payton did such a nice job I thought I would post the video on my Facebook page. Notice how she matches the mood of the music to the title of the piece by playing softly and smoothly with a nice rounded hand position and keeps her fingers close to the keys which contributes to a smooth and relaxed sound. You can hear the melody clearly in the right hand while the left hand stays quiet yet supportive. Payton is in the 4th grade and has been taking lessons from me for about a year. She is very good about applying my suggestions each week and is making great progress. I am thankful that her mom is very supportive at home and helps her when needed. It’s really great when parents are there to support their kids in their piano playing.
